Romance novels are not high up on my choice of reading but I’m glad I got a chance to read Heartbreak Guitar. It’s lovey dovey but not in the usual overdone fashion……it’s a real type of romance……a bit of love at first sight I’d say.
The storyline and characters are well developed and make you want to read on…..and when it ends……well put it this way……I look forward to book 2

Xoe has faced a lot of death lately. First losing her band mates in an accident, and now a close friend. Taking some time to go back to her old home town of Kendra, Xoe faces the anniversary of the death of her band mates at the same time of burying her friend. Being in town brings back its own torn memories. Xoe, however, uses her music to help her deal with her emotions. That is how she finds her way to Casper, a young musician himself. He and his family run the local music shop. Through ups and downs, Xoe has to face her past, and Casper has to fight to see if he can push away the darkness in her heart to show Xoe that she is still worthy of love.
Cindy Hargreaves does a wonderful job creating colorful characters and a cozy town to base her easy read story in. The story is emotional, and readers can feel themselves going through the grief and frustrations as Xoe works through her pain to find her happiness. As the first book in a series, it does a great job setting up memorable and lively characters that will pull readers in and make them come back for more. The whole atmosphere of the book is light and really makes the reader want to turn on some good rock music and dance.
One thing that I felt the book left hanging, however, was the relationship between Xoe and her actual parents. This relationship is touched on and seems like it may become a thicker plot line, but it is never really resolved. However, with this being a series, I look forward to seeing if these details will be brought into light in later books.
Heartbreak Guitar is a gentile book that pulls on the readers emotions. As a romance story, it does contain some sexual content, but is written in a classy yet exciting way to appeal to romance readers everywhere.
I would gladly recommend this book to anyone looking for some light relaxing reading, with characters that will make then fall in love.
